Have you expressed your concerns about the chat program
with Andrew? I know one thing I don't like about it, when typing
it will leave part of a word on another line, seems inferior, is that
what you are talking about?

I don't have any problem with you helping Geezer, have you talked
to him about it?

Technical work or no, we still need new moderators to start. And we most certainly need to launch with the site, clunky or not, in my opinion. We can make it work. We need to. So if it takes the preasure of nessecity and immeadiate need to address the problems then lets get r done. In my opinioin.

No better way to work out the problems then diving in and getting to know exactly what they are. We can then identify ways to improve.

My browser did not work for a long time on this site but it does finaly work now and chat is great. In my opinion. It actualy creates a new window so I don't have to open another tab to roam Neopoet. For me that makes it easier.

Great to see you back, and you are so right, we are here,
and going to give it all we have. The program as it is, is very
workable ... all we need are people!

Come on folks, isn't having our own chat line a great perk,
how many times have simple conversations; enthused your muse.

I'm up for the task! I said I would avail myself when the time came and it has! ;)

My opinion is that a "clunky" chat is far superior to no chat. The technical snafus can be adjusted on the run..........stan

themoonman

yes, clunky is better than what we've had lately
and I know Andrew will be working steadily to eliminate
any technical problems.

thanks

I am in complete agreement with Julie and Richard. We need the chats open as soon as we can get the moderators on board. We can, as they say; work out the problems as we go along. I will volunteer to moderate any chat that falls within my schedule. I'm not sure about my tech skills being up to it, but will give it a shot if someone will let me know exactly what I will be expected to do. Yes, I would be willing to work with Jess again. We did have a good thing going. ~ Gee

Sorry we're not working on a "chat site" together... All at is required is that you think like a psychologist and not like a poet! ;). I remember last year when I did it, there were a number of participants who had to be "led" into 'calmer' zones, lots of confrontational behaviour if not contained... Not that that should put you off! Given that you are a father, just
Treat them with some firm discipline... Candy coated gloves perhaps... ;)
good luck, and yes, I'll come to the party again!
Boni
Ps. The person I'm thinking of has since been banned, so things have definitely improved and should be easier.

I knew there was a reason you were so good, you've had me under
psychoanalysis the whole time (lol)

but I'm a couch tater when I wanna be

ha ha ha

thanks Boni

Bonitaj

But here's an interesting take as I see it!
In Freud's day, there was little or no eye contact, unlike it is today, where one is positioned smack opposite the therapist. I think that method has some bearing/similarities to "counselling online", viz. The anonymity, the 'facelessness' where one can "let it all hang out!" and especially when tthe client is regressed to a younger age and feels too ashamed to cry publically!.
Who needs the couch when we have Neo? Right!

could you say what role the moderators are expected to perform..if you are looking for seasoned / accomplished writers to don that role i may not fit the bill...otherwise if it is about welcoming and encouraging new members who sign up on Neopoet..i would love to my bit...there again how would a moderator get to know who has newly signed up?...

i have read some of the comments doing the rounds expressing concerns about New Neopoet lacking participation...i believe that folks like you at the helm of running it want to primarily make sure that it is technically sound to avoid mishaps like the one in Oct-Nov and simultaneously finding ways to make it more vibrant which would take some time..but i can see that things are on the move and extend to you Andrew and Paul my very best wishes for a successful launch...raj...

I'm sorry, I'll have to edit my blog here ... the call for moderators
is for the Chat Program. A moderator would host two or more open
rooms a month, as part of training to become a regular host. They
would need to attempt to run the room with the least amount of conflict
possible, and in order to do that, they would need to be in control, having
interactions with each member there, keeping conversation going, and
welcoming everyone that shows up.

What you are referring to (I think) is the Greeter Program, if you look on
the first page of the tracker, you'll see that Dan (hooded stranger) has also
asked for volunteers in a blog. Greeters welcome each new member to the
site and offer help in navigation and answer questions for them. The link is
http://new.neopoet.com/community/news/update-volunteers-needed

but anywhere you might want to help out would be appreciated

thank you

Richard

I am willing to moderate if you need me. I'll pm you.

Lou

We need volunteers to moderate open rooms,
the site will be open to the public soon and should
prove to be very busy.
