All I see is Red

Poem Body

I listen to the radio
And all I hear is hate
I turn on my TV set
And I hear there's no debate

Well I can feel the change wind
Blowing on my head
I look to the red, white, and blue
But all I see is red

Take away the weapons
For the actions of a few
While babies are being murdered
Does it make sense to you?

I'm just an old country boy
Who grew up with country pride
And all the damned injustice
I just can't abide

I can feel the change wind
Blowing on my head
I look to the red, white, and blue
But all I see is red

Everyone is waiting
For a government handout
Though fewer are those working
And freedom is in doubt

An executive gives the order
Congress by-passed once more
And the wishes of the people
Are all put on ignore

I can feel the change wind
On my country head
I'm missing the red, white, and blue
For all I see is red

Probably just me but I'd have said winds of change. As to the subject, I'm still in shock that there are enough idiots in this country to re-elect Emporer Obama. And that fool thinks he has a madate when he won by under 2 million votes. This is the 1st time in my 58 years that I've actually considered leaving the U.S. But I guess I'll stay here and continue the fight for sanity . Can you guess I like your poem? lol...............stan

I dunno, I just like the sound of change winds over winds of change. Being a SF/Fantasy fan is probably the reason. Glad you liked it. I am sure there will be some that don't, but that's okay. We're all different and that way we don't get bored. I agree with you on the other. Just glad I live in Texas.

Texas............isn't that the area which the Emperor would have become north Mexico? lmao.............stan

My lymphocytes left as I was full of fear
In came crippling pain and bubbling cells
Blood everywhere I was living hell.
Yet I could still get upset about a forceful poem.
I can see you at sunset Rett screaming at the beautiful Red sunset
Red Damn Red why do you spoil even the sunset ROTFLMAO..
Watch that Blood Pressure there young man, Yours Ian.T

Not privy to the finer points of American politics,
being an outdoor woman, too, I appreciate this on its own merits,
and the change of winds, was an eye-catcher, and a mind catcher
I think. Well written, Rett.

Seeing rett, mening straight in Norwegian, rodt( the o with a diagonal line through it!) is red.
Ruddy good poem, love Ann.

the scansion and weak rhyming errors.

This is really all about the content. And you know I really have turned around on this issue. There are so many guns in America I can see how you would feel disadvantaged without them and of course you need to prepare for the necessity of overturning a despotic government by force.

I think it's a pity you brought abortion into it though. Terminating a non-viable foetus (diseased or up to 24 weeks) is no more child murder than "spilling your seed". And I know you support it in cases of rape or incest, so then it's ok to kill a baby, by your terms of reference? Yes the bible condemned Onan, but that OT condemns a lot of silly things. And regardless of origin or ownership of the 'seed' it is still basically a woman's choice. It is their bodies that have to carry to term or suffer the invasive procedure of termination.

The only other thing is that I hope you will come to realise that this applies only to America with, and because of, its gun culture. You are quite wrong to accuse Australia of being despotic for our tough gun laws. We like the fact that you can be pretty sure anywhere you go no-one is carrying a gun. I bet you $3.50 that if there was a referendum Australians would overwhelmingly vote to maintain the current legislation, if not toughen it up even more.

Your disappointment in our country's leadership
definitely comes through, and you speak for many
with this content, but not me. I'm with you on the
gun issues, but that is all. The whole government
hand out thing is tiresome to hear, it doesn't take
an economics major to see that the cost of living
is much higher than the average pay rate but it seems
to be something ignored, let's blame it on lazy Americans,
that is just bullshit. Abortion is also a tired subject, our
Supreme Court decided it was not a government issue,
but you who calls for less government would give up
every woman's right to mandate their own body. It is
not murder, if it is then every time a man has spilled
his seed he should be charged with murder.

There are many that believe exactly what you have stated
here, and you've said it well,

thank you for sharing.

Rett, surely you realise that Corporate Capitalism requires a level of unemployment to keep wages low through job competition and fear. Since it is the product of the economy, surely the economy has a moral obligation to support those who are unemployed through no fault of their own. Note that the unemployment figures don't take into account people who are employed at below minimum wage.

Rett

don't take into account those who have dropped totally out of the job market because the jobs have become unviable because of overregulations and the expense of complying with many of the nonsense regulations.

It is sad really. The true unemployment rate is up around 17%.
