Poem Body

smoke and sparks
are whisked into
the dark
bending low
across the grasses

wall of stone and
a window full of
tongues and fallen
beams flame

the diesels idle
men in long coats
chat
the bodies sway
last of the cattle
have been found
and shot
and its time to
move
riders mount up
radios crackle
cigarettes are
finished
Atikah brand
In the Carpathian
the hot winds
will stir
like this breath
of unrest
this madness....

Geezer

that this was written after watching a news program about a fire during a drought in the Carpathian Mountains, or maybe he puts it there, due to some local population where he lived. He often used local people and their national background in his works and it would be just like him to so here. He makes the scene so clear about the residuals of the "barn" fire, by telling us that the rest of the cattle had been rounded up and shot. No matter the subject, he made one feel like you were there. ~ Gee.
