Walking along with a bundle of shame
Maybe it’s lighter than the guilt
Holding me fast like a ball and chain
This prison I have built
Brick and mortar, walls of stone
Iron bars lined one by one
Cage the heart that’s leaden gray
So it may never run
Sever cords from heart to head
Stifling the meddling mind
Ears are deaf and tongue is mute
To hurtful words unkind
Laying siege upon myself
Apparitions dark and cold
Eventually they penetrate
My worn resolve will fold

This is so good, really
This is so good, really enjoyed it. The imagery, metaphors and the subject matter are all linked to paint vivid pictures on shame. Great work, I wish I had written this. Ruby :)
Yeah...
we can be harder on ourselves, than anyone. I'm feeling like this is true of yourself. You did manage to keep your hands up, and fend off the blows pretty well, so I'm thinking you are good for now.

My favorite lines.
I guess you will hold out, you are not about to go down without swinging.
