Up Off The Chair

Poem Body

The Stones -
my mind untamed
feet hit the floor...
gotta have more.

The Stones -
my soul inflamed,
baffled cat fled
beneath the bed.

The craze -
fly across rooms,
jump into bass...
still need more space!

The fierce
gaga exhumes!
Wild as I am...
I've hit the jam!

Walls shake,
move like a quake,
I'm wide awake -
it's make-or-break!

Lord, saaave my bones!
The Rolling Stones!

Something about this poem reminded me of a scene in the movie, "Jumpin' Jack Flash", with Whoopie's character attempting to to get the lyrics of the song from listening to it. Of course, she could not just listen. She is up and around. Doin' the Jagger-step. I imagine that is what you describe. Very good imagery.

Yep, kinda like that...times 1,000! I saw them in 2015 and they opened with Jumpin' Jack Flash. At the split second of the first note to the beginning riff, everyone was on their feet and never sat down again. I still grin when thinking about that night.

I can understand why that is your favorite. It's quite the dark side, but so revealing of human nature. Mick Jagger never stops - he "moves like Jagger!"

I always thought The Stones rather ugly and for that reason, I never liked them as a child. I suppose my predjudice stuck with me. Although I do like their song, Satisfaction but only because of the lyrics.
I love the way your poem jumps, while you're dancing to the song. And I loved your rhyming scheme. Great job, Ruby :) xx

They just look - different, for sure. But it's their music and energy that brings me up off my chair. (I lose myself.) When I saw them, they closed with Satisfaction. A mini-concert itself!
