Writing Like A Master

Cry Craven ( June Contest - Poe, maybe? )

Poem Body

Who's dreaming of my footsteps, and the paying back of debts,
and has me wandering lost, alone, upon deserted shores,
where neither god nor goddess has, an inch of terrain, blessed,
and all I feel is sorrow - sorrow for forevermore?
For those mistakes forgiven me, will still count in my score.
Mine to keep, forevermore.

And if, perchance, I could ignore the self-made waves of scorn,
the dreamer, who is dreaming me across the threatening moor,
reminds me of the mighty cost of moments that are truly lost,
and won't be altered, even after this purgatory shuts its door.
Me - I am memory, and memory is mine, forevermore.
Mine to weep, forevermore.

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

I can be a lot of fun trying to write in another's style can't it? lol. Were one to try doing mine all that's required is lack of meter lmao. Appreciate your entry..............stan

Yes, it is fun and challenging to try copy the masters' styles.... Chrys's shop has given us a thirst for it, i think.

I think I did better there with Tennyson than here with Poe....
I'm afraid I'm unable to get anywhere near as dark as him
lol - the thought of being stuck forever with only me and my memories is about as close as I can come to the horror genre

Loving these monthly contests - they give inspiration for writes...
