I took a college
spelling test
to see which words
I spelled the best.
When morning came,
I rose and drest.
I told myself,
"Don't be so strest!"
But, after all,
if I regrest,
I might leave scholars
less imprest.
So I exhaled,
bravely addrest
the worries that I
then possest.
I forged ahead,
my thoughts exprest
on words that
sometimes felt supprest.
Reckoned to spell,
but reassest
that most were wrong
(and quite opprest!)
I surrendered to
that spelling test
to stick with words
I spelled the best -
like joyed and peaced,
and loved and blest...
simple and certain
when once profest.

Hi L
I luv this!! So much fun and goes to show poetry doesn't have to be so serious all the time! Feels good to read something light hearted.
Hi, Carrie,
It was fun to write - automatic spell check kept changing the words back, so it took a bit of patience, but still remained fun.
Thank you for reading!
