Letters from August

Poem Body

I can feel the change
Subtle at first, but omnipresent
The summer has grown long
And the heat has turned dry
Everything lush and green
Begins to wear aspirations of gold
Once proud leaves
Seem anxious on their limbs
Fair winds carrying letters
Written to unknown readers
From the canopy of young August
Find me with waiting eyes
Listening ears
And an open heart

the anticipation of the writer, who certainly is not done with summer, but understanding that it is inevitable that autumn is coming, and not mourning the loss of summer, but is in anticipation of the changing season and hopeful that it will be just as beautiful as they remember. My favorite lines: "Fair winds carrying letters to unknown readers." ~ Geez.

Hello, Tim,
So soft and peaceful. I've read and read, again. What a lovely, tender poem. A nice reflective piece for this time of the season. Helps my heart open up just by reading.
Thank you,
L
