monomania madness

Poem Body

it is the thing even darkness fears
the ugliness from which
flies mass and swarm

it authors blind extremism
induces dogmatism
a soul contagion
with hatred born of foolish misconception

it manifests in lies
and shows itself in anger
encourages a normal, sound, sane person
to ignore sister/brotherhood

it demonstrates
betrayal of trust
intolerance

teaches that forceful converting
to one's own self-desires
the only must
fanaticism validating
eradication of those ‘denied redemption’

prompts inductees to
deafen ears and hearts
forget respect

forget love

it is the thing even darkness fears

About This Poem

Style/Type: Free verse

Review Request Intensity: I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back

Editing Stage: Editing - rough draft

About the Author

Region, Country: Western Australia, AUS

Favorite Poets: Favourite poets? So many, so varied. I like particular songs, not necessarily the singer... and the same goes for poetry. I can honestly say though, that Alfred Noyes' The Highwayman was what inspired my love of poetry - my mother began reading it to me when I was still a baby, and it became my favourite bedtime story

You could say we're this way with poetry LOL, no this is deep and i'm going to think about this a little longer before commenting. Love Roscoe...

S

Monomania does all this and even worse. In S-6 ,L-1 did you mean to put "to" at the end then also at beginning of next line.
Forget respect

forget love

Seems there ought to be a 3rd thing to forget for some reason lol. Maybe forget this comment......stan

we were not taught to fear it but to welcome it..
My parents would walk us outside to greet the full moon
and I did this with my little daughter then!
How she loves the moon today!!

and yet how people feared it..because of all the
zaniness that overcomes many people with its
appearance!

I like the tactful use of definitive descriptors in this

flow pattern wise...
for me I
put in

"And forget respect

forget love

it is the thing that even darkness fears"

And is like for me a normal speech flow
and you can see the line break like a pause..
The repetition of forgetting
and inclusion of love is like intimate and sure..
Almost like a thought..and pointing a finger!
like...Im thinking about this...Hey..Love..
Yah..Forget Love!!

and then the addition of "that"
for me is a classic role of syllables
like keys on a piano..notes
falling..or rising...
Beats??
counts?
i forget the formality of description
to this...But I like the feel of it
upon reading...

I still like the great speeches of
the old time leaders..
female and male..
God knows Cleaopatra
and Joan of Arc must have
had some striking words
along with their charisma

I like that you have knowledge
of words...many of them I know
the meaning and how words
can be amplified about them
and tagged to them in an
extension that is flexible
to their meaning..
nuances

The moon is a complex
thing...reactionary and emotional
powerful and omnipotent
symbol of passages...

Other then my non stop chattering
I love your poem..
just some of what I see I can add

Thank You!

thanks for your visit - so very much appreciated

"like a great marble tombstone afloat he is..and whever he goes..White skye birds
reel above him!"

Melvins book....I sit here without my glasses...My obsession with the sites to write
before hitting reality out there..Blinds me...everything slows down...heart beat either
jacks up or slows down...wait for prescribed meds to kick in and mellow out the ride
by bus or bike or walk to work...

The moon...Its light is whiteness..or Pallid...Ethereal
The White Whale...Albinism...the pure black and white
Captian Ahab in his black...(Management) and the
whale....albino...abscense spiritual washed of
color...Madness which mirrors the captian or societys
pursuits....

Fixated.....One idea..one theme...

Obsession....Madness...
purity....salvation...

I actually am Obsessed with the moon
believing it has significance and power
for some rituals

HOwever....I see that you are Describing
Mono...singular....

which is a purity...
like I without the O
without the crowd happiness of
IOIOIIIOOIOOIIIOOIO

Unicorns are white..
The rabbit in Lewis Carrol was
white..

Mono lake is a desert pan
salt flats
mirages

Your poems are intelligent
I love the clever
wit of them..

keeps my brain working
dont have many here
in the city who relate to me
...
or maybe I dont relate to
many!..

thank you!

I had to look Monomania up in the dictionary though it didn't satisfy me much. All I get is that it is some kind of mental disorder.
I liked how you expressed it throughout dear Judy.
Thanks you.

judyanne

A mental disorder...
A fanatical orientation on one thing, and one thing only...

I was going to title this ISIS
But as i wrote, i realised that i was describing all religious zealots...

thanks rula
