In the face of tragedy or disaster
That befalls your fellow man,
Take your moment of silence,
Your thoughts and prayers,
Your signs of the cross,
Your hypocritical sympathies
And condolences,
And shove them.
Take the preachers,
Priests, rabbis, imams
Shamans and witch doctors
You seek out for
reassurance and validation
And shove them, too.
Take the holy books
where you find the
Platitudes, myths
and superstitions
you spout
and stick 'em
where the sun
don’t shine.
And when you proclaim
How blessed you are
That the disaster didn’t
Hit you but struck
Your neighbor instead,
you show your
soul-less self.
Up yours.

A loud shout at the sunshine where it changes nothing bar the inner feelings that need to be protected by the odd outburst.
Here in the UK we have strict gun laws and my thoughts go out to all those that passed and healing thoughts to those that still have to be each day no matter what.
Saying about our gun laws, we had a lovely lady MP gunned down the other day, and this nation was left without breath that shook the world that it could happen here.
Your piece has a place in each of us just the words are a little different.
Thank you for your write, I have been lax in writing of late and you have filled a space..
Yours as always Ian..
before guns there were cannon and sword..arrow and spear
the texture of history with strife
more horrific and filled with torture
but then it was groups...mauraders
hauling treasures or territory
not a single person acting out
and in perspectives some cities
stateside already have had
hundreds of murders
dog eat dog existance
but the callous extermination
of fellow humans with a legally
registered weapon seems
to be the ultimate insanity
and too exist before turning
that weapon on others as
a free person...
not some dictatorship
or falling apart nation
and targetting a specific
audience
its becoming more and more
common and probably will
just escalate
why I avoid theatres
and bars etc these days
but the sugary speeches
its just the hurt one feels
for the world
the senselessness
of the past few years
of rampages
hundred of years more
went on
long before the great
wars even
spain in holland
and more...
not picking on spain
but that did happen
americans against
the indians late
eighteen hundreds
no one was spared
in our city we had
a gathering..
I am socially awkward
and didnt go but
talked to a few
in the gay community
I know
thank U for writing about
the social aspect of the
world
Mr Esker!
