Silenced at last( revised from Expansess)

Poem Body

Vast expanse of naught
the gaping maw of defeat
unjustified scorn
from others bent on deceit
undermining all
overshadowed by an ego
perhaps unaware
the truth will conquer a lie
a broken soul left to die

See them there,they are asleep
dreaming of what should have been
even in dream they lie to themself
for they are dead and no longer dream

In terms of the psychological science, humans lie to themselves all the time. It is a phenomenon of self-deception. In that context, I like your expression "Vast expanse of naught." It reads good.

it is so very nice to be reading your poetry again!!!

this gave me chills...and cause for self-examination:

Vast expanse of naught
the gaping maw of defeat
unjustified scorn
from others bent on deceit
