Subtle Artwork

Poem Body

Awake now from this hazy anesthesia
Rise above the opaque mystery
This beautiful, magic, and terrible dreamscape
Is not the visage of existence
But the fabric of life itself
Blanketing the discerning observer
Underneath a comforting heartwork
Where all thoughts and actions
Become subtle artwork

Hello, Tim,
Wonderful to see your poetry! This reminds me of a theory offered in the book "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz which suggests that there is the dream of mankind - domesticated, predetermined, and judged by society. And then there is our personal, individual dream that is actually who we are, and who we were freely meant to be. A little deep, but so much here feels similar. I love those last two lines, especially.
Thank you!

Sounds like a captivating piece of literature. I really appreciate your input. I’ve been painting a lot and I’m finding these little parts of me that splintered off as I grew older and cynical and busy. These parts of me were difficult to regain access to. Even still, I’m finding if I commit an hour a day towards something creative, these parts of me start to become very active about wanting to be fulfilled. Its left a bit less time for writing and reading as it is quite escapist in the healthiest way. In an attempt to also maintain my practice at writing I’m now trying to schedule some time for poetry a few days a week. I hope to become more active on the site again.

Thanks as always
Tim

I love this line:

Rise above the opaque mystery

where most people get bogged down, you excel!

Very clever, needs to be read through several times to really get to the meat. Loved the opening line. Alex.

the reawakening. The flowers you paint are beautiful and somehow seem to bloom with life, as I have watched the progression of awakening. I have felt since the first paintings that you posted that this was a new start, a kind of a walkabout,
where you are on a journey to find peace and comfort. Well done sir, well done! ~ Geez.
