Where do I even start?
to pen my life story
so many tides of change
like sands of an unwavering dune
Longing to rekindle.
All that is now past.
of happier times and of love
As it was then, and is now
I retreat to the pangs.
of a silent broken heart
tearful eyes flow like a river.
Reaching for what used to be.
Where can I even start?
to pen the feeling in words
deep reflections of thoughts
with no beginning and no end
Memento Mori, we live to die.
We die to live.
The tides of life
never to be the same
For the family I once had
Now they are gone.
Life will never be the same.
When was it ever?

Hello Cat
Thank you so much and nice to see you in here - I see some names from long ago and it is nice to see folks that still are writing. I hope life has been treating you right and you are doing well.
Much love - Mona

Thank you so much and yes you caught my words penned exactly right! I had no idea I was even going to write but that morning something made me do it. I appreciate your words.
Hey Magic...
It does seem like we are rebuilding our family; some of us have gone to the great library of poetry, some have fallen by the wayside as they have ventured off into different areas of life, and some are finding the path home. I am glad that you have made a visit to see what is happening, and hope that you still have a taste for the sweetmeat of poetry. I like this piece that shows you have been thinking about us. ~ Geezer.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragment and truth. I remember your name and some of the others I see in here but wish I can remember who is who and what is what. It has been a minute since I even visited the thought of writing again. One never knows from day to day we must do what our hearts wish to do and that is a for sure thing. Thank you so much Geezer. Nice to see you again.
I don’t think it’s rambling
When we are asking these question and taking inventory of our thoughts and experiences, it’s frequently disjointed and sporadic. Kinda like brainstorming looking for solutions. I think it sounds natural.

Yes thank you so much and you caught my essence - my natural essense! That is the only way I know how to be. I am not a perfected writer for sure and have many things in life still to learn. Imagine that at this age and I am still learning every single day something new. It's a sad but beautiful life at times, all wrapped up in one with a bright bow on it. Cheers to you.
Dear Magic
Ello ello long time no see. You may not have written for a time but this one's wonderful. Seems like we've both gravitated home. I came back in January. I agree with Tim's comment it's not rambling sometimes it's how the thoughts are, branching off onto tangents each one connected in some way to the rest.
Well done sweets!!
Its so good to see you again
Love Jayne x
Seren!!
You know of all the people in here I always wondered how you were doing and if you still wrote your beautiful poems and I see you are still here as well. That is great! Thank you for your words and I hope all is well by you there in Aussie land. See I do remember some of the things from days gone by. I also remember how vividly your words would paint a picture in my mind and hopefully you went on to write many a books. Nice to hear from you!
Much love - Mona
Sorrowful & beautiful!
Our loved ones who died shall turn again to life. Heart-rending and emotional!

Thank you so much and your words brought tears to my eyes. This is so true - quoting your comment
"Our loved ones who died shall turn again to life" It sure is hard when your entire life was revolved and surrounded by family and then in a blink of an eye they are gone from sight, but never from the heart.
It is hard to put those feelings on paper but maybe writing brings more clarity to the mind and heart afterall. Thank you so much.
Mark!!

I was so happy to see you'd won the Neopoem of the week.
Huge Congratulations Mona, it's so good to see you back with us again, and first poem you win! I was away I came back sporadically but I was working for a publishing company for a few years and my time was limited. I was also working on my books, and dealing with some serious health issues, I can't say too much at the moment, but I will share when the time comes.
love and big hugs Jayne xox
P.S. So glad you remembered me!
Jayne
Thank you so much dear lady. I know lots of things have happened in the years past and it is so nice to see and hear from familiar storytellers and poets. I too have dealth with health issues and as we age seems more prevalent than ever now. I still chug through the pain of a bum back but I just accepted that was going to be it and realize some folk are worse off then me so I don't complain too much on it anymore ..however.. some days that pain is crucial. I have to take my gummy bears to help at times :) Thank goodness they are producing things to help us along, instead of the nasty medications that only harm our bodies more. Enough said on that right?
I would love to see your book if there is one out and I thought you probably wrote several by now. I was wondering about Ann from Norway and Geremia and some others how they are. Wouldn't it be nice to have everyone back on here again? I was sorry to read about "Elf" that is too sad. I remember our moments but he always managed to come around and he was a great critiquer of everyones work, no matter how bruttal it may have been he was on point. He was rather young just like my sweet brother I lost shockingly in 2020 too. It was the worse year of my life and the worse phone call I ever got. Maybe I shall write about what all I went through one day. It still so much pain in my heart and then losing Momma eight months later almost did me in as well. We all go through grief but never did I know it would of been so bad. Well enough about me now and I hope you are doing better in that neck of the woods and will be visiting your work real soon.
Much blessings of love sent your way
Ms Mona
A BIG Congratulations...
How about that? Whoa! I am so pleased that you have gathered up a win, right off the hop. This was an amazing and well-deserved win. ~ Geezer.
.
Thank you Geezer
Yes thank you and I was shocked to be honest with you, as I have not had any formal anything to do with writing over the years. As I said to someone in a comment I laid down that pen and pad sometime ago. I wrote a few things but not much. It is nice to see some familiar faces and names in here still. Wasn't there a Pugliese writer in here or was that another site.. I am trying to remember more each day as you know that memory starts to fade a little bit as we age...:)
So nice to hear from you
Cheers
Ms Mona

PS I guess my memory is not as bad as I thought lol but ask me where my glasses are and all the time they are on my head and I am frantic searching -- but then I do remember great acts of kindness from a long way down that pathway home. :)
Hi Magic
I'm a newbie to Neopoet, and am enjoying so many who write. This of yours today touches me to the quick and I am struck by your simplicity of line and language. I liked the lines "...thoughts / with no beginning and no end" and your last verse reminded me of a phrase of John Henry Newman's saying that living means change and to become complete means to have changed often. I guess that won't stop till we're six feet under or a piles of ashes!
Many thanks
Kevin
Thank you Kevin
Sorry for late response I have been away again I come and go in here but am happy for reading your thoughts and your take on this little write. You nailed it! Thank you.
