VALI

Poem Body

flat horizon crouches
beyond towns broken concrete walkways
Night rigs stainless trailers gleam
hot molten dusk
shimmering in the distance falling
Desert reds burning ochre in the light
traffic tires scorched Gekko runways
utility poles march like deities crosses

Katushka

embraced Kulture
changed your name
live in desert now
but house is missing
only wooden fence
and poplar yard
at least you bring
out the Samavor
when I ride in
a bag of Royal Oak
watch the hot nights
moon rise
on a porch
Windchimes sing
U still have your
grandmothers icon
You still have your
mothers beauty
We are all reinventions
of our dreams
including I
I sip the frozen Vodka
from the freezer
and ask U to sing
the old songs
In the travelling dark
the coyotes yip
...
