WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM THE COVID INQUIRY

Poem Body

Inadequate People did not to serve us, they served themselves.
Those without experience pushed those with, far away.
A tide of ineffectual men, bullied and excluded women,
and worked hard, to convince people their interests were met through party ideology.
Their excuses were repeated by main stream media,
and those who should have held them to account, ignored the facts.
They continue to betray us.
“We cannot believe the chaos we’re hearing,” they say.
Didn’t we tell them, on repeat?
The lies and fraud became unbearable as did,
the deaths while our anxieties grew extreme.
And yet, they did nothing to help us.
How many coverups and dead cats can we consume?
As if we could feed our souls on hairballs regurgitated in filled litter trays.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: In England we've been watching the Covid Inquiry where our Civil Servants, politicians and their ex advisers have been commenting on what they did or didn't do during this time. Many people lost loved ones and it's impact on the country was frightening. Yet we still have the same government and politicians trying to burnish their part in the chaos. From what has been revealed, it was utter chaos. These swear words were used between Spads, (Special Advisers) in dicussing ministers in meetings at that time. F*CKPIGS, MORONS AND C*NTS

Favorite Poets: I like Margaret Atwoods poetry and I enjoy her writing. She has a natural ability to make her fiction read like poetry, if you read closely you will see it., I have a good understanding of the English language but I don't always follow the rules as I can be a little lazy and sometimes I'm just tired., I've been inspired reading the poetry on Neopoet and have enjoyed analysing other people's work.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:

The poem "WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM THE COVID INQUIRY" is a social commentary that uses strong imagery and metaphors to express dissatisfaction with the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The language used effectively conveys a sense of frustration and disillusionment.

However, the poem could benefit from more specificity. While the general sentiment of dissatisfaction is clear, the poem could be more impactful if it provided specific examples or incidents that inspired these feelings. This would allow the reader to better understand the context and the depth of the poet's emotions.

The poem also uses a lot of negative language to describe the subjects of the poem. While this is effective in conveying the poet's feelings, it may alienate some readers who do not share the same viewpoint. Balancing the negative language with some neutral or even positive language could make the poem more accessible to a wider audience.

Lastly, the poem's structure could be improved for better readability. The lines are quite long, which can make the poem difficult to read. Breaking up the lines into shorter segments could improve the flow of the poem and make it easier for the reader to digest.

Overall, the poem effectively communicates a strong emotional response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but could benefit from more specificity, balanced language, and improved structure.

Hey Bot, if you thought I used negative language, you have not had any access to the inquiry. It has been a monumental exhibition of ministers and Spads covering their arses after they failed the country. Direct interference of expert opinions and attempts to shut down and cut out woman at every opportunity.

Hello Ruby. Never were truer words said, and to think sometime in the next year or so we have an election where we can select which of these self serving parties can take over. As for BOT I stopped having comments from that soulless thing soon after he started.
No appreciation of humour or individuality. Give me a real person any day. Alex.

Hi Alex, I'm disappointed with many aspects of the Covid Inquiry and with my poem which isn't really a poem, more of a restrained rant on my part.

I'm happy the inquiry has helped to reveal some of those responsible but I sense there are many others who are trying to clean their hands of being complicit.

Thank you for your comments, and for reading my rant. Ruby :) xx

It is absolutely maddening what went on during COVID times and how many are still trying to deny their roles in any wrongdoings etc. Your rant was on point and well said.

Thank you RoseBlack. I'm still seeing outrageous levels of incompetence in our government and in our ministers. It's very sickening when their comments and contrived plattitudes are still given more time than they deserve. Ruby xx

HI Obi, the bastards wanted most of us to "take it on the chin," curl up and die, but that's the Tory way as brutally disclosed by the inqury and the way they dealt with the whole Covid crisis. I am very angry. Ruby.
