Beautiful World

I am not religious,
But sometimes I see God swaying between palm trees,
Long robes flapping along to The Beatles at sunset.

I see Him in the way the boy in my math class always holds the door,
And in the way my friends shoes always match her outfits.
I see Him in the tiny miracles, the quick glances between people.

I see Him in the small shy smile when two lovers eyes meet,
I see Him on the dance floor of a country bar, smiling wide and
stomping His cowboy boots to a Tim McGraw song.

Revised Bucket List

When I was young, I made a list
Of things I hoped to do and see
Before I felt death’s cold hard fist.
It was a detailed list, indeed.
But years have passed, and goals change, too,
As age and money interfered.
My modern list, revised and true,
Gives me joy as I persevere.
The first goal now: to give more love
To everyone within my reach.
To lift them up as high above
The mundane as I can, and teach
Them to believe in their own worth.
My next goal is to stretch my heart
To bring more people of the earth

Supernova

Supernova
Written by Kelly Ann Wilson

He burned through life
Like a supernova.

He went so hard
On his body,
On his mind,
On his spirit.

Kicking and screaming his way
Through the universe.

Leaving a blazing trail in his wake
Of what he scorched to the ground.

Red hot.
Closed fist.
No mercy.

As any trace of light
Gave way to the dark.

June nineteenth one hundred and fifty nine years ago

The conclusion of the American Civil War commenced with the articles of surrender agreement of the Army of Northern Virginia on April 9, at Appomattox Court House, by General Robert E. Lee and concluded with the surrender of the CSS Shenandoah on November 6, 1865, bringing the hostilities of the American Civil War to a close.

Guardian Angel

Only the wanting remains
as the struggle goes unspoken
with tears on the horizon,
whispering her name.

She feels the stirring echoes
of your heart's gentle touch
she could never tell you
she misses you so very much

Now you're her special angel
watching down from above,
guiding her uncertain footsteps
tenderly with all your love.

Knowing your spirit never left her
will bring her comfort from the pain,
when the struggle goes unnamed
your love gives shelter from the rain.

My Bucket List

I fell in love with a heart so true,
I cherish moments, both old and new.
I learned from failures of the past
I pray these actions will always last

My bucket list as a young man, so vast,
A journey of self-discovery, meant to last.
I chased my dreams with passion and might,
In the pursuit of life, to find the light.

Now that life is closer to the end
My bucket list begins to bend
A list once so big and wide
Now is small but full of pride

The Chosen

The poet’s soul is like no other.
It’s sister to the stars; her brother’s
the faery folk, each mystic creature
and goddess girls who’ll never feature
or figure in most mortal’s thinking;
(She’s seen them mock while slyly winking.)

Her precious soul it senses beauty
and deems it her most solemn duty
to paint a picture on her pages,
with words of wisdom: just like sages!
Yet not pretentious, paltry preaching;
With rhyme, she’s turns her hand at teaching!

Linda, Blue and Green

It's been a very long time since I last saw you.
But I remember you standing in the lake with a smile.
The blue-green waves were splashing against you
from the transient wake of the passing boats,
causing you to sway in a wonderfully awkward way.

We were temporary people then. Changing,
like all the ripples in the water we couldn’t hold.
Unprepared for the hurt, it’s why you and I used to be.

WHISPERS (1)

Again, when I travelled through time,
Exchanging peace for garments of nocturnal pain,
Attempting to relive all happy moments stinging my calvary,
A stop and quick pause, waiting to bathe in a new rain.

A different path I chose, a new flesh I became,
I sat on still waters until my ego turned to rust,
Sorry leaves I birthed, my prideful feet now foreign- lame,
The universe reviving, the earth spitting another kind of dust.
